The Importance of Isaiah Seven
Matthew sees an analogy between the circumstances of Jesus birth to what goes on in Isaiah seven. The sign was the son was the child, he says. He is the Davidic heir. If a has dies, the line of David is extinct. And by the time the child can eat solid food, the Kurds and honey, these enemies of yours are just going to be toast. So again, the events of Isaiah seven contribute to this notion.
