Problem-Based Learning
Problem-based learning is identified through the following key components. One, ill-structured problems are presented as unresolved so that students will generate multiple thoughts about the cause of the problem and how to solve it. Two, a student-centered approach in which students determine what they need to learn. Three, teachers act as facilitators and tutors, asking students the kinds of metacognitive questions they want students to ask themselves. And four, authenticity forms the basis of problem selection, embodied by alignment to professional or real-world practice.
