I grew up with very strict immigrant Jewish parents. I, as far as I know, he was very experimental in that way where he talked about bad movies, he talked about Coca-Cola. And so like you've said, there were stories in them and there were these references to high and low culture. He was a student at Harvard and just read everything and watched everything.
