There's ideal theory and non ideal theory. Ideal theory is the extreme case where we idealize away from all the current limitations and the massy things, towards a possible, hypothetical future version. We do the ideal case, but then we also consider the non ideal case, the realistic case. The cases you mentioned are yet superinteresting limitations of current vr. Maybe even eventually, there'll be digital stuff imbedded inside our brains, interacting with the censees in our brain that deal with the body.
We spend more time in digital, virtual spaces than ever. But are those places really real? If they are, does that mean we could be living in virtual reality right now? Or does it even make sense to ask such a question? Philosopher David Chalmers joins Adam to talk about consciousness, the nature of reality, and the limits of digital technology.
