The Buck Stopping Problem

There's a problem that I don't think has been fully articulated in social science. Different schools of thought say, so x is happening because of y, but y is happening due to z. When we get to z, we say, okay, now that's a real cause. That's a real reason for something to happen. And then we have to say it's z. And other people come along and they say, no, no,No, it's actually y that's the cause. And that's areal cause. It can sometimes be helpful to understand capitalism when we're trying to abolish it or struggle against it. Ultimately, it's a question of of producing useful concepts
