The Origins of Kebele
Kebele is a goddess who meant many different things to many different cultures. She originated in Phrygia and Anatolia as a mother goddess, a mother earth goddess. Kebele was also worshipped by the Greek since certain areas and contexts. The cult of Kebele spread to Greece in around the Archaic period but she wasn't a deity that kept her own kind of distinct identity.
