Garnish and Worn in Modern English
In modern English we have garnish and worn. These two words are cognate thanks to this same basic process. Worn is a Germanic word which is native English. And the original old English version also produced the words warning and wary. The French borrowed that same word from the Germanic tribes on the continent. It may have been the Franks or some other Germanic group, linguist aren't entirely sure but the French emphasized the aspect of the word related to providing for someone.
