What Is a Back Dated Prophecy?
A back dated prophecy is a technique where a writer can fulfill a revelation by writing about it after the time it occurred, but putting it in the mouth of an ancient prophet. Scholars can tell that there are parts of Isaiah that were written by a second and a third author under the name of Isaiah because they leave fingerprints on the text which tells us it was not all one author.
