There's a bunch of stuff that you can be in your water that you don't wish was in the water. The two big ones are Giardia and cryptosporidium. Then there's bacteria, which it can also be in water and do bad stuff to you. And viruses can be in the water and do good things to you. How we get rid of them is through filtration or chemical treatment.
