I've never been shortlisted for anything, so that for me would be winning. So what's that like when you're sitting at the Booker prize ceremony and you don't win? Do you perfect your gracious loser face? Or do you feel resentful? You have no control over it. I was just interested in the process. Well, literary prizes are like best pumpkin and show because you don't actually do anything to win it. It is then bestowed upon you. That would be the optimum. Wouldn't it? Everybody gets a prize for something. All have one and all shall have prizes.
