Definition of New Criticism

On the lonely landscape of literary theory, new criticism is now championed by those guys who are dead. Harold Bloom was kind of a weird bird where he championed a little bit of everything. Nathaniel West novels very short and looks like it would be easy to make it through but they defeat me every time. Thomas Pinchon's got an interesting style at times, but I still have never finished a Pinchon novel.
