The Importance of a Quick Vertical Incision
The benefit of a vertical incision through the neck is you're going to generally avoid any medium or large size vessels. I would generally in an emergency setting promote a vertical, a quick vertical incision. If you can palpate the landmarks, that's very helpful and then get whatever tube you have,. It might be a tracheostomy. It oftentimes might be an endotracheal tube. So you want to get something in there and start ventilating. Okay. Great. All right. With the knife, do you, does vertical versus horizontal? Yeah! The big teaching point, I think is keeping your cool and knowing that time will slow down in that situation,
