The History of the United States and China
In the 1800s, Western business interests tried to get into the Chinese market. The Boxer Rebellion was quelled by an alliance of mainly European powers and the United States. In 1911, the United States recognized the Republic of China in Shanghai. We supplied them with a ton of aid during the second Cino Chinese war. But then we abandoned our isolationist stance by never saying that war was declared.
