In 1986, Barron's written an article ranking the recent performance of 77 money managers. Claude Shannon had done better than all but three of the pros. He worked with his wife and a decrepit Apple II computer. When Warren Buffett bought Berkshire Hathaway in 1965, over 30 years, he had a return of 27%. By the late 50s through 1986, Shannon's stock portfolio was 28%.
