How to Write a Political Memoir
When he came out of the Bush White House, I was very disoriented and very much at a crossroads in life. What things have you learned since then until now? Is this a big takeaway? What do you think you've got most wrong? We will spend days on that question. You learned a lot. But one of the reasons it's hard to get as much insight as you would want from political memoirs is because the kind of people who do this work are usually selected for exactly the qualities that make you not only the worst kind of writer, but the worst type of observer.
