How to Avoid a Street Fight Mentality in a Trauma Room

I've found that walking into the trauma room is akin to a street fight about half the time. As soon as your cot comes up alongside of the main SRU bed, everybody's objective is to get that patient onto their bed and nothing else matters. I give them 30 seconds of the fastest talking most cogent report I can give before I get out of the way. That's what it looks like. And then you better make sure you use it wisely. If it really works like that is a fantastic idea, but it is a challenging environment.
