The Pressure on the Teen Job Market
The problem with having a heavy social safety net is that it gives people an incentive not to get jobs. I think there's another kind of pressure at work here, and because as you well know, over the last 30, 40 years, it's become ever more the case that students go directly from high school to college. So it seems to be the case, there are any number of pressures on the teenage job market in this country.
