I Don't Sleep Well and Mental Health

Lucas: I want to talk about mental health because you mentioned this idea of having a warning label on shift work. There's an overlap in the mental circuits sorry the circuits in the brain and if there's a change in one neurotransmitter let's say dopamine that predisposes you to a mental health issue it's going to have an effect upon sleep at some level. We can now think ofSleep as very valuable not only as a predictor of perhaps a crisis whether it's depression be or bipolar but also as a target to reduce the effects and therefore reduce the severity of the condition.
