How to Predict Post-Op FEV1 and DLCO
If your predicted post-op FEV1 and DLCO are both greater than 60% predicted, then you're good. You can proceed to surgery. If at least one is less than 60%, but both are greater than 30%, then you need to do either the stair test or the shuttle walk test. And we'll talk about those in a second. The VO2 max is really what's telling us what we want to know. So if theVO2 max is less than 10 mLs per kilo per minute, the patient is at extremely high risk.
