The Night of the Smugglers in Calais

Ahmed: I was put in a tanka, supposed to be two hours and will be in London. This was in Calais and the smugglers said it's not going to take long,. They put us in this metal tanka. It was seven people. One of them was a child from Afghanistan because he was too little. We had to carry him so he does not sink. And after eight, nine hours, we started to lose air which was complete darkness, no air, nothing. His conscious became face to face with death at that time. "I've touched death. I smelled death. I've heard death," Ahmed says.
