In south africa, political parties have begun to ramp up rhetoric against migrants. Thousands of indians came out in protest last week over derogatory comments made about the prophet mohammed by two senior officials. What we're seeing is politicians choosing to scapegoat and unify rather than unify. It's a sad reminder that we are living in troubled times for democracy.
