The Death Penalty on the Line

Why would he indicate that there had been a body and who else's body would it be other than Kaylee's in Casey's car? What would be the purpose for doing that? Had he gotten mad at Casey for some reason? Why did he attempt suicide after the body was found and not before? He would have known that Kaylee was dead. If he was going to kill himself over it, he doesn't have to wait for the body to be found. And if she's convicted, she's getting the death penalty and say nothing at any point. Whatever punishments there would be will be very mild compared to what is going to happen if Kaylee is found guilty.
