Activists deployed a militant display of defence in portland. It would have been pretty difficult for the cops to push through. The level of defense eent int structure was massive, like it did. Because of how quickly people came together and got barricades down that they were able to get the ise off balance. There's alot of barricade tactics and stuff, but a big part of it is just the speed with which people took action. That pushed the city and the police off balance and allowed a victory.
