Is Oil and Gas a Weapon?
The book was written prior to the current crisis and at the time I don't think anyone myself included expected that this crisis would be so bad. Oil and gas operate very differently in how they are transported, shipped, handled, sold. Gas mostly goes through fixed pipelines; an oil tanker you can just sail it anywhere pretty much. The conclusion I come to from looking at some cases is that the oil weapon is basically non-existent. It just doesn't work because countries can just find another supplier if they get cut off.
