"I'm deeply upset that it's called cyberpunk because that makes it impossible to like search for any other cyberpunk stuff on the internet," he says. "The first cyberpunk book I ever read was Snow Crash because of Ben, right? It's one of Ben's favorite books." The name comes from a short story way back in early enough that it might have been late 70s rather than early 80s.
