The idea of gossip as a negative thing comes from this idea that women are supposed to be obedient to their husbands. And you can still see this in our queen, the transformed wife's writing the all the godly wives,. She says just because a woman is a stay at home ma'am doesn't mean she's like a godly wife. Nowadays, women can easily neglect their home duties by spending their days strolling through social media and being busybodies and gossipers. But back in the way, women would find ways to be outside of their homes, being busybody, gossiping and doing anything they could to get out of their home duties.
