The United States is no longer dependent on Middle East oil, says Peter Bergen. But that hasn't affected its commitment to the security of the Persian Gulf, he says. The U.S. remains convinced it needs to maintain a presence in the region for energy security and global trade. "I don't think that's going to change anytime soon," Bergen says.
