In 2015, Ireland became the first country in the world to vote for gay marriage. Only one county of the 26 voted against by a tiny margin. The year before, the winner of the Rose of Tralee had come out as gay. This was a huge change. But the biggest totem of all in the Catholics grip on the Constitution was, of course, abortion. My dad hated seeing this picture because it reminded him that my mum had accommodated these people to have an abortion. It was this battle about the rights of the wrongs of abortion played out in my childhood. I just sort of prize heifer sort of, you know. Well, it's sort of like Miss World
