The Importance of Silence in Filmmaking
In 1985, I was really trying to be connected with the characters. So I always wanted to have like the camera near the actors so that we feel their presence. And then there's just a huge moment when the prosecutor does his final speech. And I wanted to feel that we were with him and I have this idea of muting the rest of the courtroom. But one of our producers told me, why are you stupid? This is what it was needed to happen.
