April Fool's Joke

If the pope just subtly hinted in the april fool's message that it was a joke, then we'd have a different situation. A lot of press outlets would not pick up on the joke and would communicate it as potentially something real. And if it's not made clear quickly, like shouting april fools, that something is a joke, than it could lead people into doctrinal confusion or moral exity. i'm not saying an apra fool's joke would be at all advisable for the pope to play.
