The Bengal Water Machine in Bangladesh

Groundwater is found in Bangladesh as at very shallow depth. When farmers started to pump groundwater since the late 80s, early 90s, the seasonal dynamics suddenly changed. In many places where we have seen the operation of the Bengal water machine, groundwater levels rise to the pre-development condition during the monsoon season. So the very existence of the Bengal Water Machine happened because of the intervention of millions of farmers in Bangladesh.
