Is There a Sense of Optimism in China?

In the few science fiction works from china that i'm familiar with, it really does leap out as a theme. There is a sense of optimism about the ability of humanity to come together to tackle big problems. It's not clear how much of this optimism, i is there because the writers are really optimistic, or whether it's because stories and discussions about potential conflict in the future, especially with the us, are simply not allowed.
