CHAPTER

The Common Argument Against Tractability of Working on Safety?

i think it's not that crazy to suppose that the current set of deep learning techniques could be extended to make some like, really, really powerfula systems have a lot of impact. And so there are lots of useful things we can wecan, empirical things we can try. But that doesn't mean that everythingis going to get thrown out the window n when a bunch of advances happen. i think striking that balance between what are the useful abstractions that we can make sort of technical or theoretical progress on, that yet are close enough to the types of real things that we want to see or cause in the world is just the problem of science.
