The Transition of the Security State
The state started to kind of consider monitoring its own citizens for subversive activity. That is kind of a change that's happening in the late 19th and early 20th century. And that often comes down in the hardest terms on like labor organizers and union organizers like Kingsley. But this did not stop somebody from, like Kingsley, from continuing to write. He didn't, as an independent person, no longer actively in the socialist party. As a radical, he continues to write, continues to speak.
