The Paradox of a Formal Credit System
The formal credit system is designed for people who are part of the mainstream economy. If you do not, then you have what's called a thin file and that can lead to low scores or no scores. The paradox though is that if you want to build a credit scoring system that's more fair and inclusive, it means that each person has to surrender more information about themselves. So really it comes down to a question of surveillance.
