The Importance of Donor Funds for Harvard

Donors give money to a college with restrictions. When those restrictions are put on the money, Harvard cannot then use the money for another purpose. This is about federal funds. Do you know how much Harvard gets and whether if it loses the federal funds, it could make that up in donor contributions? They would not take that risk. It's at least hundreds of millions of dollars in research funding that Harvard get.
