The Baptism of John, I Baptize You With Water for Repentance

Some argue that the real repentance happened when john said, hey, you're wicked and perverse. Repentance took place out on the beach, but then immersion into the water was an outward, visible sign of the inward thing that had already taken place. John also connects baptism to his baptism, to a coming baptism that's going to be different. The one in matthew seems to actually be talking about a baptism that is final judgment. But we do have another text where he seems to be talking of prophesying something that's goingto come, which is a baptism that will be greater than his baptism.
