Is There a Shortfall in the Number of Lorry Drivers?
There is a 15 to 20% short fall in the number of lorry drivers we should have, or we need currently in britain. There's no real easy fix because it takes six months to train and certify them. The obvious thing that the government could do would be to allow temporary visas for drivers from the eu - but that doesn't happen overnight. But if they did that, then the poles, the romanians, the bulgarian drivers could all come back and an fix, temporarily, at least fix that problem so that christmas doesn't have to be cancelled inbritain. Yes?
