The Compression in the Public Markets
Every year, even for this really ilete cohort, the best and brightest multiples have started o decline. From 20 16 to 20 21, we saw a huge run up from nine x to 34 x a rr in their last private thunding round. Now we're all the way back to eight times. In that period of compression, what the market has begun to value is as changed. First it was a premium on growth above almost all else, and now it's a premium on profitability.
