The Importance of Thinking Beyond Yourself
I worry that in secular culture we are in danger of losing that. There's a wonderful Ted talk by the philosopher Alan De Beattanc or Atheist in 2.0 where he makes this exact point that religions may be wrong. They may not be a true description of the world, but they sure as heck figured out amazing ways for millions and millions of humans to cooperate together. We might need something like that to survive and to avoid being horrible to each other.
