Sotheeness of latinos is a really contested topic as well. Many latinos are still legally defined as white. There have been court cases where mexican americans themselves have asserted identitias other than white. In california, for example, there were anti masegination laws saying that a black person could not marry a white person. But if it was a white person marrying an african American, it was illegal. So i'm not sure that let's let ourselves be pigeonholed into just one kind of way to look at the world.
