How to Deal With Failure in Distributed Systems

Chris Michael John was one of the engineers at Basho back in the day. He's now a PhD student at CMU and he actually started out doing, uh, like a programming language or programming models for CRDTs. Since then has pivoted into trying to deal with the issue of failure on distributed systems. This is kind of in the realm of chaos engineering, but without having to do chaos engineering.
