The Cost of Raising a Kid in America
U.S. fertility rate has fallen to about 1.6, which is down from 3.7 in 1960. The average cost for a middle-income family to raise a child now is $18,000 a year. Robbie says there are three different things going on: people who can't have kids, those who don't want any kids and that they're having fewer children. "I do feel like we're being extorted a little bit by some of the industries," he says.
