i reflected on it more an i thought, maybe ben's got some more he could do here. Here's a way to cona bolster ben's argument. Open theis like william haskar and richard rice say that god had options over which kind of universe god could create. But they argue that god had better reasons to create an opentheist world. And the reasons there must be things like the value of creaturely freedom and genuine relationships between god and creatures.
