The Strategy Has Changed to Absolute Suppression of the Virus
There is no end game to this. There's no point at which can lift those measures without the virus rebounding, because there will be no build up of immunity in the general public. It was really scaryand it felt very grim and very, very uncertain. And i've never been in a briefing where all the other journalists were looking quite ashen faced about what the science is saying is going to happen. The fact that there is no endgame until maybe we have vaccine, or something significant changes, like the virus mutates to be significantly milder, is quite a lot to absorb.
