The History of Doughnuts

In 18 forty seven, a ship captain named hanson gregory made a gutsy move and cooked his oily cake with a hole the center. The result was exactly as he'd hoped - fresh, fluffy, light and airy. By the early 19 hundreds, doughnuts were a yummy treat, often made in the comfort of one's home. When world war won hit europe, female volunteers at the salvation army and red cross started delivering doughnuts to men on the front line. It wasn't until 19 20 that an in mention was made to mass produce doughnuts.
