Businesses providing utility are losing gross margins to the point of becoming zero. Many companies that offer vanity or social status, or a chance of dealing with a s mo are making those businesses almost free. Aliwaba chose to not charge the merchants to sell, but they made money on advertising and fintek,. But do not charge you rent per se. Because it was easier to disrupt iber amazon and china by saying, oh, it doesn't yo know commissions if you have to sell on our store.
