EEGs and Sleep Diagnosis

EEGs have allowed us to distinguish the aspects of not only when something is asleep, but what part of sleep they're in. So non-rapid eye movement and REM sleep are just throughout sleep dialogue. And there are some distinguishing features between being awake and these two sets of sleep that we see. When you're awake, EEGs show low amplitude, high frequency waves,. so small and fast, and a hippocampal theta rhythm during behaviors. But with this, we have been able to distinguish that in mammals, our brains have three distinct states in regards to being awake in sleep. Our waking state has its own brain measurements, which is varied and complicated because we're doing stuff.
