Some parts of the city, some parts of the empire were healthier than others. The ancients also say you're probably going to live longer if you're poor. Wealthy people could afford to get out of the city of rome in summer so they'd avoid a lot of th diseases,. for example. For one part of north italy, something like 57 centinarians recorded, including some over age of a hundred and forty. Also there's the question of taxation in particular class groups. They would be registered at birth from the age of 14 - but we have no birth certificates back then. So again, i think people are exaggerating their ages."
