The refs definitely should have assessed the situation and said this is strange. We don't really think it sounds strategy for one team to concede a basket to the other team by having no player nearby any other players. Even Vivek never suggested five even even Vivek run a diva four on five. The odds are inherently pretty low that any of those are going to succeed, but in this case there didn't seem to be a clear rule that was misapplied. It's like you know a principle rather than a rule that's a very different thing.
